Ideas

Mon Jan 21, 2008, 8:24 AM
So I had an idea yesterday for a series of photos. I was thinking about flames, due to one of ^hellfirediva's journals and of course I' a pyromaniac, so whenever omeone mentions flames or anything that produces flames (other than bombs) I tend to day dream. Then I remembered an awesome Chem prac I did last year (and the year before that mind you), about how when adding different metal solutions to a flame it changes the colour of the flame. So came the idea about doing a series of photos of the different coloured flames.

Then I stumbled across the problem. How am I going to get the metal solutions. I as thinking of using:
barium chloride
calcium chloride
copper(II) sulphate
lead(II) nitrate
potassium nitrate
sodium chloride

to cover a whole range of colours from orange to green and blue. Unfortunetly I doubt I can just get them anywhere.
I wonder if I could convince my Chem teacher to have some small samples of those solutions...or not...I might have to investigate further...dammit, I hate research...

Adelaide and Advice

Sat Jan 19, 2008, 11:25 PM
Well over the last week or so I've posted some more photos that I took in Adelaide from the Adelaide aviators museum...in other words, 'things to do with planes'....not usually my cup of tea but my brother enjoyed it and i got a couple good shots.

I also got some lovely advice from ^hellfirediva about some of my macro stuff that i've been atempting. I've also got my eye on an EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM lense...but as if I've got the money for it... I think i'll have to start saving up. I might e able to afford it at the end of the year, if i get a job -_-'''

Anyway school starts again on the 31st, so only 2 weeks to go...I have a relaxed timetable this year so i should hopefully get some time to do more photography...also there is my trip to New Zealand in March...yay!!!!!!

Macro

Tue Jan 1, 2008, 9:51 PM
Ok, Just uploaded my first attempts at doing macro photography. Not entirely sure if I got it right, so if you don't think it's macro, please tell me and I shall take them down and try to place them in the right category.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Years!!! Next up for me is Chinese New Year!!!
I've decided to go down to China town for the celebrations this year. I wanna get some cool pictures when it's all lit up.
